I am starting this post with some photos of a little beach art we created a few weeks ago. The girls and I headed over to a little local beach one morning. Unfortunately, about halfway there I realized that I had forgotton all the beach toys. But, it turns out we didn't need them. After playing in the sand and water for a little while (Claudia turned her hat into a bucket to carry the water), Claudia asked me to 'draw' Rapunzel in the sand. (The movie 'Tangled' has been a favorite in our house this summer). Anyway, as I looked around for a stick to use as a drawing tool, I discovered a length of rope, sea battered and sandy, that seemed perfect for her hair. So, we created our Rapunzel with some rope, sticks, seaweed and rocks. Pretty soon Claudia requested 'Flynn Rider' complete with his 'satchel'.
By now Sarah had joined in the fun and we just couldn't stop. We made ourselves a 'Maximus'.
We soon had a nice little group of characters and Claudia would have had us keep going, but it was getting to be lunchtime, and the sun was starting to blaze, so we packed up our things and headed home.
It turned out to be one of the funnest trips to the beach we have had in a while. I'll have to forget the beach toys more often;).
Summer is not quite over for us yet (we have two more weeks before the first day of school). but below you can see some of the fun times we have had so far - my 20 year High School Reunion, camping in Southern Utah with family, and so much fun all around.
