Hooray!!! I did it! Okay, okay, we did it! Yesterday, Tim and I competed in our first ever triathlon.
After I had to miss the Woman of Steel triathlon in May, Tim said he would do one with me here in CT, so I started some research and found one about an hour away from our house and on a Saturday. We both completed the Tolland Summer Solstice triathlon. Tim finished in 1 hour 25 minutes, and I finished in 2 hours 5 minutes.

We started with a 300 Meter swim in a 59 degree pond - yes, it was VERY cold - too cold to even put your face in the water! Tim finished first in the swim for his heat, and 3rd in the swim overall. I definitely wasn't first in my heat, but I wasn't last either:). The swim was followed immediately by a 12.5 mile bike on rolling hills - I felt like I was almost constantly going uphill - guess I need to do a lot more bike training if I am ever going to do this again. Finally, we finished with a 3 mile run. After getting off the bike, I felt like I was lucky to even walk, let alone run, but eventually my legs got some feeling back into them, and I did run at last.

Look, I even have a smile on my face at the end of the race. Again, Hooray! That's one disappointment turned into a triumph, now we just need to keep hoping for the other one.

wow. wow. that is all I have to say- The swim alone would have done me in. Great Job!
Good job! I'm glad your knee held out for all of it! Congrats!
Way to go! What an awesome accomplishment.
Way to go Kim! That is awesome you did a triatholon! I could only hope to finish a 5K without crawling thru the finish line. Good for you guys. I also read your Hawaiin post, I'm totally jealous:)
Dude, you rock. Seriously. I have thought of you many times while running since you posted about your disappointment and thought how hard it is to train for something and then not be able to complete your goal. Come to NC and do a 15k with me this fall! Do it!!
Hooray for you! I'm so impressed. I also have to say - your blog titles are always so creative and cute!
that's awesome - I love it when people finish their first event - congrats!! erin
wow. you're hard core. I really don't think I have it in me. but I'm glad you got to do that since you missed the other. That time sounds pretty good to me. I was really hoping you did better than Tim :) haha. congrats to you both.
WOW!!! Way to go Kim. That is seriously impressive to me. I started training right when I got pregnant with Carson and gave up after one attempt at the swimming. And that was in a pool. . . warm . . where I could stop and catch my breath. It just about killed me. You are my hero! :)
Looky, looky...I found you! (from the Medford's blog) Congrats on finishing the race! That is so impressive and I'm happy that you could put your training to good use.
Touching and inspiring, Kim! Looking forward to hearing more on our walk tomorrow.
WOOHOO KIM!!!!! Way to go! I am so proud of you! Any chance you guys are going to be out this way next weekend? I didn't think so. :( There is a Jerusalem reunion at Toppers house. Maybe you could ride your bike out. :)
