Sarah recently entered a poster contest at her school. The kids were supposed to make a poster about taking care of the earth. Sarah drew up a rough draft and then I helped her transform it into her final poster. We originally planned to purchase some white poster board for the backdrop, but then I remembered an old gift bag (that had been sitting in our gift wrap bin for years) that provided the perfect starry sky, and then we recycled the cardboard from the bottom of the bag and some old paper we had on hand for the rest of it.
These are all Sarah's own ideas...
... made entirely of recycled materials.
They chose two winners, one from the upper grades (3-6) and one from the lower grades (K-2). Sarah didn't win, but they announced over the loud speaker during morning announcements that she had placed 2nd for the lower grades. Pretty darn awesome if you ask me!
