... that recently made me smile.
This post is a mish-mash of random photos that I thought deserved a little respect.
I grew up in a household where we were constantly teased or mocked for any silly behavior we exhibited. Not only did this prepare us to live in the world and let things roll off our backs, but it helped us understand that we were loved. I know, it might seem ironic, but in my family if you get mocked, it means you are loved.
A while back, Tim headed out to Utah for the annual 'Big Bull' elk hunt with all the men. After the harvest, comes the butchering, and apparently Tim was finding cuts of meat that would be the perfect size for our little family. He would take these cuts into the women who were helping to bag and label the meat and say, "This one is mine." At some point, the ladies got it into their minds that Tim was being very choosy and exclusive about his meat. The following photos show the result of this assumption and the subsequent teasing that was unleashed.
I didn't discover these until a few weeks after Tim came home when I went to grab a roast for dinner. I laughed heartily and had a twinge of nostalgia as I read the mocking words written in my mother's own hand. I could just picture my mother chuckling at her own cleverness as she was scribbling. It is nice to know that Tim has been so fully accepted into the family circle of love.
I just rediscovered these photos of some rock art the girls and I made at the beach last summer... Flynn Rider and Rapunzel...
... with Mother Gothel and Maximus the horse.
I also just discovered these photos of Claudia gleefully running atop the snowbank in our front yard.
She was having a grand time!
This is a quilt I made for a project that our Relief Society has taken on for the year. Our goal is to have 100 quilts to donate by the end of the year. This is my first ever attempt at a quilt, and I think it turned out pretty well. The center piece was embroidered by a woman in our ward along with several young boys that she has taken under her wing. They all sit and embroider furiously during sacrament meeting.
Finally, I have to tell the tale of Sarah's boots. She loved her boots. They were sparkly, and shiny, and warm, and stylish. She wore them almost every day during the winter...
... they took her on many adventures, even out onto the ice. But soon, after so much adventure, the boots were not so shiny any more, and they were terribly stinky. Tim made a plan to get rid of that stink forever...
...with some lighter fluid and a match.
Sarah was not happy to see her favorite boots go, but Tim enjoyed his bonfire immensely.
Sarah was soon consoled by the promise of a new pair of boots when the weather turns cold again.
So, that does it for this episode of randomness, perhaps I will have another one of these to post sometime in the future. For now, just remember that it is the little things in life that make it worth living. So glad I have random events to make me smile.
