October 2013

October was full of tons of fun.  We started the month with a camping/hunting trip to Utah...
Camping with Grandpa
… and Grandma

What's camping without a little dirt?

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Sarah loved spending time with cousins!
Claudia did too!
Sarah ended up having to miss the Primary program in our ward, so she and her cousins put together their own program to present to the rest of the camp on Sunday.  They practiced their songs all morning and organized the song/talk order all by themselves.  It was a great way to spend a Sunday in the wilderness.
The Primary Program
I walked into the tent one night and found the girls asleep like this.
Grandpa's trophy Elk
A visit to Grandma's Hair Salon.
After the hunting was all done but before we had to clean up camp we decided to head over to Dinosaur National Monument.  I got on my smart phone to look up the information only to find out that the Monument was closed due to the government shutdown that had started that morning.  So we thought we would take a tour of the Flaming Gorge Dam instead.  We called them to see if they were shut down as well and they said 'not yet' so we headed over there.  Just as we were pulling into the parking lot, the ranger was blocking it off.  They had just gotten word that they had been shut down so we were out of luck.  Instead we drove down into the canyon where we could see the dam in all its glory...

We took a little hike down the river...
 Took some family photos...

This is what you get when you say, "Say Cheese!" ...

… or maybe this.
Emmett napped while we cleaned up the camp.
He napped some more in Grandma's arms when we got back to her house.
We had a wonderful trip overall!
We found this crazy spider on our shed in the backyard… perfect for Halloween.
We measured ourselves at the pumpkin/apple farm...

… and had some fun with plastic vampire teeth.

Rapunzel at the Ward Trunk-or-Treat

Bandits and money at the Ward Trunk-or-Treat.
 We carved our pumpkins...
I love the look on Claudia's face here.  She did not like the slime!

Claudia took dance for the first time...

Waving in the preschool parade.

The Cowgirl and Rapunzel

Sharing the loot!

Sarah designed her own Halloween shirt and I made it.

Claudia came walking into the kitchen looking like this… hello googly eyes!
Ready for school picture day!
Emmett smiled for the first time!

The kids and I went to a Wizard of Oz fairy house display at one of our local museums...

Making a wish.

"Follow the Yellow Brick Road"
"Poppies will put them to sleep!"

All in all a full and fun October!
